USU Eastern’s Esports Hearthstone team had its first session match on Sept. 16 against Utah Valley University. Their next match will be against the University of British Columbia – Vancouver.
Hearthstone is a competitive online card game made by Blizzard Entertainment. The format for the matches is called conquest. Each team brings four decks to the match and can play three of them. The other team gets to decide which deck is not played.
“While we may not have won our first match, it did prove that we are in the running for a good first season,” said head coach Kevin Van Der Spek.
