On Monday evening, 20 years of USU Eastern history was celebrated as the annual Bread ‘N Soup Night was once again hosted at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on the university’s campus.
This event annually not only favors those in the community by filling their bellies with a warm meal for a small fee, but also benefits the Carbon County Food Bank, where the funds from the event are donated. For just $7 for adults and students 18 and older, $6 for students and children aged five to 17, and free for children under five with a paying adult, the event is known to bring in a substantial amount each year.
However, the funds raised are not the only benefit. Carrie Icard, founding member of Bread ‘N Soup Night and associate professor of English, is always happy to see a great turnout due to the knowledge that the community has rallied together once more and enjoyed a meal in the process.
Soup staples such as chicken noodle, cream of potato and cheesy broccoli were featured as well as a hearty roll. Two more Bread ‘N Soup Nights will be hosted on Nov. 12 and 19 beginning at 5 p.m.
