USU Men’s Basketball Team Wins Pair on the Road


The USU Eastern men’s basketball team traveled to Twin Falls, Idaho over the weekend to compete against Treasure Valley Community College and Planet Athlete Academy.

On Friday, the team fought against Treasure Valley, earning a win of 89-79. The first half saw the Eagles soaring past their opponents, 40-25. Despite a rally from Treasure Valley in the second, USU Eastern secured the win. Josh Van Weezep led the team with 22 points, followed by Royale Ewing with 13. 17 offensive rebounds and 13 steals on the night added momentum to the Eagle’s win.

The team earned another win on Saturday as they took on Planet Athlete Academy. The Eagles swept past their opponents with a 107-65 win. Nathaniel Wright led the team off the bench with 15 points followed by Phillip Winston with 14. Planet Athlete’s 22 turnovers and USU Eastern’s 25 offensive rebounds set the game in favor of the Eagles.

USU Eastern will compete against Eastern Wyoming College and Western Wyoming Community College this coming Friday and Saturday, respectively.
