Press Release

Utah State University Eastern men’s soccer completed its non-conference schedule Saturday night with a 0-0 tie against Otero in La Junta, Colo.

Even though the game ended in a tie, Eagles’ head coach Ammon Bennet said he was happy with his team’s play.

“Happy for the tie, we had some really good chances in overtime to win the game,” said Bennett.

In the overtime period, Otero’s goal keeper made two crucial saves and preserved the tie. The Eagles get the tie while overcoming a depleted bench and playing on a narrow pitch with the game being played on turf.

Against Otero, the Eagles had 14 shots with nine of those being shots on goal. Sophomore goal keeper Austin Munoz was in goal for the Eagles and had nine saves.

With the tie, the men’s soccer team now has a 5-3-2 overall record.

This Friday and Saturday, the Eagles will travel to Ephraim to take on Snow College. Friday’s match against Snow will start at 1 p.m.
