The USU Eastern rodeo team is hopeful that they will be able to participate in the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) scheduled for mid-June. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association made the decision to end the season for all regions and schools on March 17. With that decision, the season was called, and the total points had been amassed after six rodeos total for the year end.

With that being said, four out of USUE’s six rodeo members qualified for nationals in Casper, Wyoming.

Morgan Jensen ended the season as the Rocky Mountain region champion in barrel racing with nearly a 200-point lead on her closest competitor. This will be Jensen’s second consecutive qualification for the finals in the barrel racing.

Austin Allred ended the season as the reserve champion in the bull riding event. This is also Allred’s second qualification for the finals.

The twin brother team of Will and Wyatt Magnuson ended the year in third place in the team roping event. This will be their first qualification for nationals.

“We are so proud of our team. Another awesome feat is that all of these team members are local kids that grew up in the Castle Country area,” said head coach Monte Jensen.

Best of luck to those four contestants and fingers crossed they will be able to compete in June.
