PRICE, UTAH – Utah State Eastern softball coach Brittani Richins recently announced the signing of five recruits for her 2018 recruiting class.
With the new signing day rules allowing high school seniors to sign in November, the five players became the first to sign for the class of 2018. All five players signed by Richins hail from the state of Utah and will compete for the Eagles beginning next school year.
The following players have signed letters of intent in Richins’ third recruiting class as coach of USU Eastern softball.
Lindsey Anderson, Catcher
High School: Helped Ridgeline in their first year of existence reach the 2017 3A State Softball playoffs. Played in all 30 games and hit 11 doubles, one triple and three home runs in 2017. Played varsity softball for Mountain Crest as a sophomore in 2016.
Coach’s Take: “Lyndsey is a catcher that has had a lot of time behind the plate and has a strong arm, which were excited to add to our team. She can also play other position, which makes her a double threat.”- Coach Richins
Nyah DeRyke, Pitcher
Brigham City, Utah – Box Elder HS
High School: As a junior she compiled a 4-2 record and 2 saves with a 3.40 ERA in 12 appearances for Box Elder. In 2017, she also batted .220 with 13 hits, 13 runs, and 9 RBIs. Helped Box Elder to a Region Championship and an appearance in the 4A State Playoffs. She also played varsity volleyball for the Bees.
Coach’s Take: “I have watched Nyah play for about 2 years and really like the way that she manages game not only in the circle but at the plate and first base as well. She will be a great well-rounded player for us for next year.” –Richins
Madison Hadlock, Pitcher
Roosevelt, Utah – Union HS
High School: In 2017, she helped Union reach to a 20-9 record while batting .318 with 27 RBIs, 28 hits, and 19 runs. Helped Union reach the 3A State playoffs the past three seasons including her freshman year.
Coach‘s Take: “Madison will add to our pitching staff with her movement and change in speeds on her pitches. She made a huge adjustment when she came to our practice and we like to see players that are willing to make adjustments fast.” – Richins
Brynn Roberts, Outfield
South Jordan, Utah – Bingham HS
High School: As a junior, she helped the Miners reach the 5A State Championship game against West. In 2017, she batted .360 with 36 hits, 30 RBIs, and 23 runs scored. During her sophomore year in 2016 she helped Bingham reach the 5A State Playoffs.
Coach‘s Take: We recruited Brynn for her hitting and her ability to run into fences. I watched Brynn play a couple times and she is not afraid to sacrifice her body for the ball. She is a great outfielder and wants to compete to win,” -Richins
Kylie Wright, Utility
Roy, Utah – Roy HS
High School: Spent the first couple seasons of her high school career at Bonneville High School in the Ogden, Utah area. Helped Bonneville reach the 4A State Playoffs in her junior season.
Coach‘s Take: “Kylie is going to be a great Utility player for us, she is very smart when it comes to the game and the fact that she plays anywhere gives us a sense of relief. Kylie also has a funny personality, which we like and always need when it comes to team bonding.”- Richins
