Press Release
The Utah State Eastern volleyball team hosted a two-day skills clinic last week for local middle and high school athletes. Head coach Danielle Jensen and her team had over 100 local volleyball players to help get the ready for their upcoming season.
“The main goal of the clinic was to do a season kick off for all the local teams. We wanted to create an atmosphere that got the girls excited about their upcoming seasons as well as introduce them to our team,” Jensen said.
During the clinic, the younger participants went through drills that focused on the basic volleyball fundamentals. Older participants went through drills and exercises that helped them with basic skills and small group drills.
Each level of participant also did drills that helped them work together as a team.
Jensen said that another reason why she put the clinic together was to help forge a strong relationship with her program the community.
“I want the community to feel connected to the volleyball program and I feel like by connecting with these girls that already love the sport is a great place to start,” she said.
The clinic ended with Jensen and her team hosting a showing of the film “Remember the Titans” at the Price Theater. Price Theater generously donated their theater and concessions to the participants to help end the clinic on a positive note.
The kickoff clinic held last week, however, won’t be the last clinic her program hosts. Next summer, Jensen and her team will be holding individual skills clinic.
“We want to get kids in this area excited about the game, teach them the skills they need to succeed and show by example how to reach goals,” said Jensen.
