USU Eastern women’s soccer traveled to Henderson, Nev. for the second straight weekend of preseason play to take on Otero Junior College. The Rattlers faced off against the Eagles in a 8:30 p.m. match at host College of Southern Nevada’s pitch.

USU Eastern continued their win and shut-out streak bringing it to five straight wins and shut outs in the preseason by besting Otero, 3-0. Meg Edwards was in the net for the Eagles and, paired with stellar defenders, completed the shut-out as the sun set over the Las Vegas skyline.

Ashley Brindley ignited the Eagle offense with her second goal of the season in the first half, assisted by Heather Moore. Claire Boman rounded out the first half scoring with her first goal of the season. The Lady Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the half. In the second half, Boman connected with Morgan Cragun to find the back of the net for the second time this season. With the assist, Boman tallied her third of the young season.

Coach Ammon Bennett was pleased with the effort of the team out of the gates. “We controlled the ball 70% of the game with adequate possessions to put us in a spot to win the game.” In preparation for conference, just around the corner, Coach Bennett said, “We will take 5 and 0 with five shutouts going into conference against Salt Lake. It’s a great spot for us to be in.”

Conference play begins next week for the Lady Eagles as they take on Salt Lake Community College at Zion’s Bank Stadium in Herriman, UT on Thursday, Sept. 12. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 14, USU Eastern will travel to take on Scenic West newcomers Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nev. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. Pacific time.
