Press Release

Utah State Eastern women’s soccer defeated the Trinidad State Trojans 3-0 on Thursday in Trinidad, Colorado. The Eagles snapped a two-game losing streak with the non-conference road win.

Freshman McKenna Wiscombe helped the Eagles take the lead early in the match with a quick goal in the first few minutes of the game. Wiscombe’s goal was assisted by sophomore Taryn Pritchett.

Right before halftime, freshman Morgan Hall, with an assist from sophomore Kallie Magby, put the ball in the net to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Eagles defensively shutout the Trojans with keeper Shyann Jones in net. Jones finished the match playing all 90 minutes and picking up three saves.

In the 77′ minute, Pritchett scored on a penalty kick for the final goal of the game.

Utah State Eastern head coach Ammon Bennett said that his team was able to get the victory in a sloppy game.

“It was a pretty sloppy game with a hard, bumpy field and we looked like the road team but we managed to pick up the 3-0 win,” he said.

Wiscombe’s goal in the first half gives her three total goals on the season, which makes her second on the team this in goals so far this season. Pritchett’s assist to Wiscombe puts her in a tie for first on the team in assists with three.

With the win over Trinidad State the Eagles now have an overall record of 5-3-1.

Their next home match will be Oct. 11 against the College of Southern Nevada at 3 p.m.
