PRICE – Former USU Eastern men’s basketball player Kristupas Totoris signed a letter of intent on Monday to continue his collegiate career at Flagler College.

Totoris will bring size, athleticism and perimeter shooting to the Division II school located in St. Augustine, Florida, which is close to the city of Jacksonville.

“Kris is a great student and also a great shooter, but he can make an impact not just shooting threes but also he can attack the basket, be a facilitator while also being able to defend bigger guys,” said USU Eastern head coach Vando Becheli.

The Vilnius, Lithuania native was a two-year contributor at USU Eastern, including a strong sophomore campaign in 2017-18.

During his sophomore year Totoris averaged 12.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for USU Eastern while earning second team All-Region XVIII honors. He also shot 43.3 % from behind the three-point line and 42.6 % from the field in 2017-18. Totoris also set the school record for three-pointers made in a game when he made 11 against Colorado Northwest on Jan. 11.

“As a coach, it was very fun coaching him and I enjoyed watching him making a lot of threes during the past two years here at the USU Eastern and I wish him all the best on this new phase of his career,” said Becheli.

Totoris was an outstanding student in the classroom during his time at USU Eastern, graduating with honors and completing his sophomore year with a 4.0 grade point average. At the 2018 USU Eastern Athletics Banquet, he earned the Male Academic Athlete of the Year award for his work in the classrom.

Totoris is the fifth member of the 2017-18 USU Eastern basketball team to sign with four-year schools. Those that signed with four-year schools include Milan Surlic’ (University of Sioux Falls), Rafael Monteiro (Augusta University), Nico Rojas (Florida National) and Petr Ropek (Menlo College).

The USU Eastern men’s basketball team finished 2018 with an overall record of 18-13 and an appearance in the Region XVIII Tournament Semifinals.
