Press Release

UtahAmerican Energy, Inc. (“UtahAmerican”) directly employs approximately three hundred individuals in the State of Utah and regrets to announce, however, that, due to the ongoing destruction of the United States coal industry by President Barack Obama, and his supporters, and by the increased utilization of natural gas to generate electricity, it has been forced to make some temporary workforce reductions, specifically:

1. UtahAmerican’s Lila Canyon Mine – Eleven hourly employees have been temporarily laidoff at the Lila Canyon Mine, which is located in Columbia, Utah.

2. UtahAmerican’s West Ridge Mine – Twenty-one hourly employees have been temporarily laid-off at the West Ridge Mine, which is located in East Carbon, Utah.

These layoffs are effective immediately and will continue on a temporary basis until market conditions improve. Salaried employees have not been impacted by the announcement. Again, UtahAmerican directly employs approximately three hundred (300) employees in the State of Utah. UtahAmerican will continue to sell and ship coal during this period, and service to its customers will not be interrupted.
