SALT LAKE CITY-The Utah Elections Office has selected the law firm Snell & Wilmer to serve as special counsel to investigate allegations of election law violations against Utah Attorney General John Swallow.
“We are confident Snell & Wilmer will conduct a thorough and professional investigation into the alleged violations,” said Mark Thomas, Director of Elections.
The selection process included the review of 14 proposals. Each proposal meeting the minimum requirements was scored for experience, qualifications and cost. Snell & Wilmer received the highest overall score.
Snell & Wilmer, founded in 1938, is currently headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, with law offices located across the western United States, including Salt Lake City. They are one of the largest full service law firms in the west, with 50 attorneys based in Utah.
Upon signing a contract, Snell & Wilmer will immediately begin conducting the investigation. It is anticipated to take approximately four months to complete this phase.
