The local chapter of Utah Foster Care (UFC) conducted the Spooky Sprint and Halloween Carnival on Saturday. Families lined up at the fairgrounds event center in Carbon County that morning to participate in a 5K run/walk event to raise awareness and funds for the local foster care program.
Following the run, little monsters and their families gathered for a carnival at the Carbon County Event Center. Those in attendance enjoyed games for kids, treats and a costume contest.
UFC is a private non-profit organization created to develop innovative strategies to recruit, train and retain foster families.
According to local UFC representative Kobi Prettyman, children are always coming into foster care and foster families leave the system because of adoption or other reasons. Currently, there are over 100 children in foster care from Carbon and Emery counties.
