Utah’s economy surged ahead in November as job growth jumped to 3.1%, more than double the national average of 1.4%. The unemployment rate dropped to 5.1%. Utah has added about 37,800 jobs since November 2011. Governor Gary R. Herbert issued the following statement:
Utah continues to outpace what has become the ‘new normal’ across the nation. In a time of mounting national uncertainty, Utah stands out as a stark reminder that principle-based governance and a business-friendly atmosphere yield the greatest economic prosperity.
