USU Eastern Press Release
The Utah State Supreme Court is coming to campus Wednesday to hear cases and faculty, staff, students and the community are invited to attend.
Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Geary Events Center, the highest court in the state will be hearing Kay v. Barnes Bullets, 20180821-SC, and State v. Argueta, 20180814-SC.
“We are thrilled to have the highest court in the state on campus,” said Greg Dart, USUE Campus Administrator. “These kind of events are a great opportunity for our students, our faculty and staff, and the community to watch our justice system in action.”
Following the last oral argument, the Supreme Court Justices have offered to do a question and answer session to interact with the audience, though they cannot discuss the details of any case.
The Geary Event Center will be transformed into a courtroom for the day, so those in attendance should expect to go through security.
The five-member Utah Supreme Court is the highest court in the state of Utah. Two of the Justices, Judge Paige Petersen and Judge Constandinos Himonas, have roots in Carbon County and have served as commencement speakers at USU Eastern recently.
