The Southeast Regional Wildlife Advisory Council (RAC) hopes to fill a vacancy for a sportsmen’s representative on its council.

The council represents a gamut of wildlife interests in Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan counties. In Utah, there are a total of five RACs. Each RAC council includes representatives of the following special interests: sportsmen, livestock growers, business, elected officials, the general public, environmental concerns, Native Americans, and federal land agencies.

Decisions which come from each RAC are carried forward to the Utah Wildlife Board, which has legislative authority for finalizing all wildlife rules and regulations in Utah. Before making its decisions, the Wildlife Board reviews and considers the motions passed by each regional RAC.

RACs meet eight or more times a year to discuss and make decisions about big game, fishing, upland game, waterfowl, bears, cougars and furbearers. Anyone who may be interested in serving on the southeastern RAC as a sportsmen’s representative, please contact Bill Bates at: 435-613-3701.
