Authorities were paged to the Sunnyside junction on Wednesday afternoon when a vehicle caught fire in the parking lot near Highway 6.
According to a representative from the Utah Highway Patrol, the driver had pulled off the highway and into a nearby parking lot when an unknown malfunction with the vehicle caused it to catch fire. All of the occupants were able to make it out of the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers and a fire unit responded to the scene. According to the UHP, no injuries were reported and the flames did not transfer do any nearby vehicles, structures or land.
Traffic did slow while crews attended to the burning vehicle but there were no road closures due to the incident.
