Vincent J Simms, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away on October 21, 2019 in Highland, Utah from complications due to Parkinson’s disease. He was born the second son of Edward L. and Mildred Robertson Simms on January 4, 1943, in Price, UT. His early years were spent in Spring Glen, Utah, swimming in the Price River, hunting arrowheads, pumping gas, and stocking shelves in his parents Blue Cut Service Station.

Vincent graduated from Carbon High School in 1962 and married his high school sweetheart, Lisle Ann Robinson on March 3, 1963, in the Manti LDS Temple. They were later divorced. On September 11, 1971, he married the love of his life Jessie Naomi O’Donnell in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Spring Glen, Utah. Vincent studied welding at SLCC receiving his journeymen papers and x-ray certifications. He retired from PacifiCorp at the Hunter Power Plant as a certified welder, mechanic, and machinist.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as Bishopric Counselor, High Councilmen, and in the stake and ward Young Men’s leadership. He is especially remembered in scouting leadership and loved by many scouts. The highlight of his life was serving a church mission in the Washington DC LDS Temple, in Kensington, MD, with his wife Jessie in 2005-2006. He had a strong testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ and the atonement.

He was the father of seven sons and dearly loved camping, sleeping out under the stars, hot dog roasts, and teaching his sons the life skills to help them grow up to be fine men, fathers, and husbands.

As his Parkinson’s Disease progressed, he became increasingly homebound and bedridden, he and his wife moved to American Fork, UT, where he lived until he died. The last few years of life were a fierce struggle and we are at peace with his passing knowing he no longer suffers.

Vincent is survived by his loving companion, Jessie, of American Fork, UT. Also his sons, Steven Vincent Neilsen, Spanish Fork, UT; Edward Michael (Jill) Neilsen, Beaver UT; Vincent Kipp (Michelle) Simms, Murray, UT; Jared William (Sierra) Simms, Spring Glen, UT; Thomas O’Donnell (Amy) Simms, Syracuse, UT; Nathan Edward (Sheri) Simms, Eagle Mountain, UT; daughter in-law, Layna (Nick) Winfield, Colorado Springs, Co; 23 fabulous grandchildren, sister, Marva Lynn (David) Zwahlen, St. George, UT.
