Three quarters of shooting woes doomed the Lady Panthers in a home matchup against Wayne on Tuesday as the hosting team was handed a 66-21 region loss.
Scoring trouble began early as the Panthers managed only two points in the first. The team narrowly improved in the second, putting up three, to take a crushing 36-5 deficit into the half.
Wayne scored a game-high 21 points in the third while holding Pinnacle to only five points. The Panthers held the visiting team to single digits in the fourth, outscoring their opponents 12-9, but it was not enough for a comeback.
Alexus Salazar led the Panther’s efforts with nine points. Nikki Borba managed seven and Zoey Kocks rounded out the scoring with five.
Pinnacle (7-14, 0-7 Region 19) will look for its first region win on Saturday as the team travels to take on #2 Monument Valley (17-4, 4-2 Region 19). Monument Valley outpaced the Panthers back on Jan. 20, 80-21.
