Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Press Release

On October 24, 2015, at approximately 15:15 hours, Carbon County Deputies, Helper Fire and Rescue Three were dispatched to the area of the Barn Canyon Road near the town of Clear Creek on an accident with injuries.  While en-route, Deputies were advised that a male subject later identified as Todd Evan Lund (49) of Perry, Utah, was pinned under his vehicle. Witnesses on scene were able to get the Suburban off of Mr. Lund by lifting the vehicle with a Sheepherder’s Jack and started CPR. Division of Wildlife Resources Officer, TJ Robertson and Larry Johansen of State Parks arrived on scene and began assisting with CPR and preparing a landing zone for Guardian Air.

Upon their arrival, Deputy Shawn Addley and Sgt. Ronnie Bogdin of the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office were informed that the driver of the vehicle, Todd Evan Lund, exited his vehicle to make sure he locked a gate behind him.  Once stopped, Mr. Lund exited his vehicle but left the Suburban in drive and the vehicle began rolling down the hill.  Once the vehicle started to roll, Mr. Lund attempted to get back into the vehicle as the passengers inside the vehicle attempted to stop it.  The vehicle continued rolling downhill and off the roadway to the right and up a small embankment. The angle that the vehicle travelled caused the Suburban to tip over on its side, pinning Mr. Lund underneath.

The driver of the vehicle, Todd Evan Lund, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident. The other occupants were transported to a local hospital and released with minor injuries.
