Amee Averett appeared in Seventh District Court on Monday regarding distribution of a controlled substance, a third degree felony, and negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor.
Averett entered a guilty plea on the charges. A pre-sentence investigation report will be prepared for the judge prior to sentencing in early June. Averett is currently incarcerated on another matter.
The charges against the Price woman stem from the heroin overdose death of Trevor Jay “TJ” Whiteside on Dec. 23, 2013.
According to a press release from the Price City Police Department, in October 2014 Averett allegedly admitted her part and responsibility in the incident leading to Whiteside’s death. Forensic evidence confirmed the details of Averett’s addmission. She was booked into the Carbon County Jail on the charges of manslaughter and distribution of heroin, both second degree felonies.
