Terrie Saccomanno was named woman of the year Friday at USU Eastern’s 34th AnnualВ Women’s Conference, which took place on the campus. Saccomanno is widely known for her volunteer work.

Saccomanno currently works for the U.S. Postal Service and still manages to find time to provide rehabilitation for injured animals, volunteer with autistic and disabled people at the pool, and care for her disabled father by attending his medical and therapy treatments. Also, after her boss was nearly paralyzed in an accident, Saccomanno spent hours each day helping him recover. Her boss is now walking.

Saccomanno was speechless upon receiving the award, but ultimately thanked the conference for such a great honor.

This year’s theme was entitled: “Life on my Terms.” The conference provided multiple workshops to express this idea. Some of the workshops included: easy home repairs, living with/through cancer, and basics of dutch-oven cooking. Various kiosks were also displayed with products and services for sale.

The morning keynote speaker was Colleen Loveless, president and CEO of Loveless Ash. Motivational speaker Meg Johnson finished the day speaking of the trials that helped shape her life.
