Helper Junior High School and Sally Mauro Elementary were put on lockdown this morning shortly after 8 a.m. after police were notified of a possible gun on Helper’s campus.

Fortunately, the alleged gun was just a wooden prop to be used in drama class at Carbon High School.

Sally Mauro Elementary was locked down as a precautionary measure.

The student with the prop was tracked down at Carbon High School after taking the bus from Helper to Price. The lockdown was lifted just after 9 a.m.

Phone calls to Carbon County School District went unanswered. A press release on the incident is forthcoming.
