The Tavaputs Scouting District awarded 14 young men their Eagle Scout Advancement at the district banquet Saturday evening.
The National Anthem was sung by the Guymon family as the scouts made the presentation of the flag. Scouting leaders Danna Gray, Bart Cox and Sherol Childs made the Eagle presentations while Mary Alice Johnson from the Elks BOPE 1550 gave each young man an American flag and certificate.
The young men that completed the requirements for the Eagle Scout included Asher Wyatt Beagley, Elijah Kai Beagley, Dalton Scott Birch, Christopher Brady Boren, Treven Degn Brazier, Mason Isaac Cordner, Allen D. Durrant, Keldon Starr Guymon, Lon Kayson Huntsman, Edward William Olsen, Ethan Olsen, Cannon Lance Sharp, Justin V. Guymon and Stuart Malone Moss. Three of the recipients are serving missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so their parents received the plaque, flag and certificate for their son.
The guest speaker for the evening was Joe Hicks. Hicks, a former resident of Price, spoke to the boys about two formulas; one for success and the other for lasting relationships. Both formulas gave ties to the Scout Law, including commitment, trust and character. Hicks challenged the young men to go after their goals and passions by practicing every day, studying, performing, and seeking mentors.
Johnson then spoke about the Elks commitment to the Eagle Scout Program, stating that each Eagle Scout must have a desire to serve their God and practice patriotism.
