Carbon County Human Resources Assistant Kourtney Cox was invited to present a recap of the 2024 fair during the Wednesday evening commission meeting.

She stated that the Saturday of June 1 wrapped up the second year back at the Carbon County Fair, which was “Better Than Before”. Cox wished to thank three sponsors, who were monumental to the success of the fair. The Grand Champion Sponsor was JN Auto, the Commissioner’s Choice Sponsor was igotpoop.com and the Blue Ribbon Sponsor was Emery Telcom.

Cox stated that there were several other sponsors as well that they could not have been successful without. She then explained that a survey was put out during the fair, asking attendees to vote for favorite vendor booth and concessionaire. The winners were Ruben’s BBQ and Cosmic Candy.

In addition to voting, the survey acted as a way to provide feedback. Through the feedback, it was discovered that over 79% of fair-goers loved that the fair was moved to kick-off summer events. Another piece of feedback that was given by many was the desire for carnival rides.

With this information in mind, Cox stated that as a group, they are going to push harder to find a carnival that would be available to join in the fair fun. She then told the commissioners that there was a steady crowd all weekend, at all of the fair events.

There were vendors selling out of goods and positive feedback from the crowds at each event. The top three attended events of the fair were the vendor booths, the animal barn and the Battle of the Bands, which Cox stated was nostalgic for many that remembered Battle of the Bands events of the past in the county.

Cox said the committee already has a lot of ideas for 2025 and they are excited to get ready for the next year. The committee is very proud of the event brought to the community this year.

From there, Barry Horsley stated that it takes a lot to put on an event like this and this year, the committee decided to give a Fair MVP award, which was presented to Alex Peczuh. She went above and beyond when it came to promoting the fair. The commissioners thanked the committee for their effort and said they enjoyed their time at the fair.
