3 Lady Eagles Earn All-Region XVIII Honors

Three of the 2019-20 Utah State University Eastern women’s soccer team took home Region 18 All-Region honors Friday, Nov. 1 at the conference tournament hosted by Salt Lake Community College.

Defender Madison Nicholls earned 1st team All-Region. The sophomore from Taylorsville appeared in all 16 matches for the Eagles; she was a starter in 15 of them. Nicholls was a staple in the Eagles’ defense with her consistent one-on-one defending of opposing forwards. She also earned Scenic West Athletic Conference defensive player of the week this season.

Ashley Brindley, a forward from Saint George, Utah earned 2nd team All-Region. Brindley, in her first season, netted 12 goals to go along with three assists. Brindley also earned SWAC player of the week honors this season. She had back-to-back weekends with hat tricks, scoring four goals against Truckee Meadows Community College and three against Colorado Northwestern Community College.

First year keeper Meg Edwards rounded out the awards for USU Eastern as she also earned 2nd team All-Region honors. Edwards was a starter in all 16 matches this fall. She spent 1,395 of the total 1,485 minutes this season in the net for the Eagles. She had an .821 save percentage, saving 87 shots to go along with an impressive five consecutive shutouts to start the season.

The Eagles, coached by Ammon Bennett, finished their season at the conference tournament and will prepare for the upcoming 2020-21 season and recruiting class.
