Price’s Terrace Hills skate park was full Thursday afternoon as the public was able to take part in a skateboarding and BMX competition, Rule The Rocks, sponsored by Way To Quit, the anti-tobacco campaign for the state of Utah.
“The idea is to bring an event to them that they don’t really get so there’s a chance for them to show us their skills while getting an anti-tobacco message,” explained Brittany Karzen from the Utah Department of Health. While showing off their skills and competing with fellow participants, attendees were able to hear various facts about tobacco use and its effects.
Besides Price, the competition also makes appearances in Vernal, Moab and Cedar City. This year, the showing in Price was double the number as last year, according to Karzen.
“We loved the support that the community came out and showed,” Karzen said.
