After many days of non-visible smoke in the area, many residents’ interests were piqued yesterday when huge plumes of smoke were seen in the area of the Seeley Fire.
According to Manti-La Sal Public Affairs Specialist Rosann Fillmore, the plumes of smoke were coming from a flare-up in the area of Vick’s Canyon.
“They (firefighters) have been struggling with this canyon,” she said.
Fillmore said firefighters were able to perform back-burn operations in the are and feel that they have it contained.
Overall containment has now crept to 97 percent. Sunday, July 15 is the expected date of full containment.
Eastern Arizona Incident Management turned control over to a Type 3 fire team team headed byВ Incident Commander Kevin Cahill at 6 a.m. Friday morning.
