Carbon County held a very short commission meeting on August 22 to discuss a resolution to terminate their membership from the UCIP. The UCIP, or Utah Counties Indemnity Pool, is an organization that is governed and ran by the counties themselves. The reason for Carbon County submitting their termination from UCIP, is that the commissioners believe this action will save them money and give them new and possibly better opportunities when it comes to liability insurance.
“Terminating Carbon County’s membership from UCIP will bid our insurance out and save a substantial amount of money,” said Commissioner John Jones.
The council determined that they will be leaving the organization. Now, they have to have other forms of insurance prepared by January 1st of 2013, which is when their termination will be official.
