The Orangeville City Council met on Wednesday. After approving an amendment to a city ordinance that would allow for headstones to be made with stone bases instead of cement bases, a sales tax adjustment was approved to be included on the ballot in November. The council then turned to the subject of recent floods. Carole Larsen raised a few good questions.

“Is the county responsible?” she asked. “Is the city responsible?”

A jetty was approved for the bridge and all other action was suspended.

At the conclusion of the meeting, mayor Roger Swenson reminded all those driving through Orangeville to be aware of their speed. The failure of many vehicles to yield when turning right at the intersection of 300 N and Main Street has been brought to the attention of local law enforcement and will be more carefully monitored and enforced.
