Bluegill are fun to catch through the ice. Pelican Lake and Mantua and Steinaker reservoirs are good places to catch them.

Attention: Quagga and zebra mussels are a major threat to Utah waterways. Read how you can help keep them out of Utah.

Abajo Mountains

Fair
Few San Juan County anglers seem to be ice fishing. Kens Lake is frozen, but ice skating has been the most popular activity.
Cleveland Reservoir

Slow
Access from the highway to the water’s edge has been challenging because of deep snow.
Electric Lake

Slow
A snow machine is the best way to access and cross the lake right now. Parking on the north end is limited to the pull-outs cleared by snowplows. Expect ice to be 10 inches thick.
Huntington North Reservoir
2016-02-05
Slow
Snow covers the ice, which may be slushy on warmer days. Traditional tackle is recommended.
Huntington Reservoir

Slow
An auger extension will be needed to drill through thick ice, which is blanketed by snow that deepens with each new storm system.
Joes Valley Reservoir
2016-02-05
Slow
Fishing success is generally slow with brief periods of brisk action. Ice near the dam was 12 to 14 inches thick. Anglers should be wary of Seeley Cove, where underwater springs makes the ice dangerously thin. One angler on the Utah Fishing Forum reported on several trips to Joes Valley. He said he caught a 19-inch rainbow and a 23-inch splake. A friend caught a 35-inch tiger musky. Creel surveys indicate that fishing is slow.
Miller Flat Reservoir
2016-02-05
Fair
Depending on the weather, surface ice might be slushy. Snow blankets the ice sheet. Fishing success ranges from slow to fair. Jigs, tube jigs and bait have been popular.
Millsite Reservoir & State Park
2016-01-27
Fair
This body of water has attracted a lot of ice fishing pressure since freezing over. The bite is characterized as very soft. White tube jigs tipped with wax or meal worms are popular baits. Trout commonly range from 1 to 2 lbs. The ice ranges from 8 to 12 inches thick, although a few springs and oxygen pockets could potentially be hazardous as temperatures rise.
Scofield Reservoir
2016-02-05
Fair
Fishing for chubs has been fast. Anglers hoping to replenish their stock of meaty bait will find plenty. Kids who aren’t fussy about the kind of fish they catch will have great fun. Trout fishing is fair. Most trout will be cutthroats in the 9 to 13 inch range. Weights start at quarter pound. A few 6 to 7 pound cutthroats remain in the reservoir, but they are difficult to find and catch. Rainbow and tiger trout comprise a small percentage of the catch. Most will be 13 inches or less. Occasionally a tiger that exceeds the slot limit will be iced. The dam arm is the most popular fishing destination, followed by the vicinity of the Madsen Bay boat ramp.
