The Southern Utah Tumbling Association’s state competition was held on April 2 in Huntington at Canyon View Junior High School. Local gymnasts from Pineau’s Tumbling and Trampoline Team competed at the event and walked away with several victories.
Local athletes competed in power tumbling, trampoline and double-mini trampoline events. Haylie Powell, Allison Wright and Marisa Oveson earned a perfect score of 10.0 at the meet with MacKenna Payton and Hyrum Oveson each taking first place finishes in each of the three categories.
Rickelle Collins and Josie Vea each walked away with two first place awards and one second place award. Mersadie Oveson, SayDee Johnson, Jaycee Peterson, Brailee Peterson, Kinley Harrington and Skyler Oveson all walked away with at least one first place finish.
Lexi Rauhala, Kadence Vea, Tylee Jensen, Ella Anderson, Naomi Mathis, Kelli Rauhala, Kashley Rhodes and Shalyce Rauhala also competed and helped to contribute to the five first place awards given to the team. The team also scored a second and fourth place award and two in fifth place.
