A recent golfing match that took place in Cedar City proved successful once again for the Carbon High boys’ golf team. Although the wind blew at about 40 mph throughout the day, the boys did not let that falter their winning streak.
The Dino’s shooting came out to 341. North Sanpete was right behind them with a score of 344. Canyon View scored 351, Richfield, 373 and Juab took away 426. For the grand total scoring, Carbon received 1875, North Sanpete, 1984, Canyon View, 2090, Richfield, 2152 and Juab, 2582.
Individually speaking, Joey Penovich received the low score with 53. Ryker Smith finished with 84, Kayden Alderson, 85, Wyatt Henrie, 89, Ryan Gagon, 91 and Carson Martines finished with 92. For region individual scoring, Ryker Smith received first, Kayden Alderson received second, Joey Penovich with third, Ryan Gagon, sixth and Carson Martines was 10th overall.
After this match, the team then traveled to Vernal, where they once again triumphed. The boys won the Eastern Utah Cup with a shooting total of 319. Ryker Smith received the low with 75. Kayden Alderson totaled with 78, Joey Penovich and Ryan Gagon both received 83, Carson Martines, 85, and Wyatt Henrie, 88.
The next match the boys will compete in is the state match at Soldier Hollow next week.
