On the closing night of the 2016 2A/3A Boys Basketball Preview, Emery defeated South Sevier 75-67 Saturday night in Richfield.
Senior Koby Butler led the team with 25 points with teammate and fellow senior Zac Jorgensen coming close behind, netting 23. Bowdie Jacobson and Kolton Butler also worked hard for the black and gold, scoring 12 each. Jorgensen also managed to land seven three-pointers.
Emery led the game at the end of the first, 20-15. Both teams managed to put up 21 in the second. In the third, South Sevier jumped ahead by five points. With the victory on the line, Emery blew out of the gates in the fourth, netting 24 points to South Sevier’s 11, pushing the Spartans to the victory over the Rams.
The Spartans’ next chance to continue their winning action will come Tuesday as the team faces off against Green River. Varisty action is slated to begin at seven that evening.
