Carbon School District Press Release

On Oct. 18, Carbon School District will be hosting a day of celebration of school achievement at all campus’ in the district.

The decision to hold the event was made at the Carbon School Board’s regular meeting on Oct. 4 when Superintendent Dr. Lance Hatch presented the state’s release of school grades and SAGE scores from last year to the body.

“In order to acknowledge this progress and to celebrate the wonderful learning we have experienced in Carbon School District, the Board of Education has proposed that each school should celebrate with their students,” said the board in a statement from the meeting.

It will be up to each school to decide how they would like to celebrate with their students. The board has set aside $500 for each school and $1 for every student that attends the school for the celebration. That means that if a school has 400 students, they will get the $500 plus $400 for their student count toward what they do that day to celebrate.

Since the meeting, principals in the schools have turned in plans that were formulated for the celebration to the superintendent. Those plans are being forwarded to the board for their approval.

“This is also an opportunity for the community to celebrate what the schools have done,” said Hatch. “Maybe they want to contribute to it or just be at their kid’s school when this takes place.”

Those interested in knowing what will be going on in their students schools on that day can can contact their schools for information.
