Dawson Anderson and Trey Vetere combined for 46 of Green River’s 57 points on Friday in the team’s region win over Monument Valley.
The Pirates came out strong, scoring their biggest output of the night, 19 points, in the first quarter of play. The Green River squad kept visiting Monument Valley to 16 points.
The teams evened out in the second, scoring 10 apiece to give Green River the 29-26 advantage at the half.
The Pirates came back to add 15 and 13 points in the third and fourth, respectively, while holding Monument Valley to a game-low five points in the fourth, securing the win.
Anderson led Green River with 25 points. Vetere added 21 points for the team, including three buckets from downtown. Axel Anguiano and Virgilio Mendoza also added points in the Pirates’ effort.
Green River (4-8, 2-1 Region 19) will look to keep its momentum this Friday against Whitehorse. The Pirates will travel for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
