Every day, 10,000 people turn 65. This aging population is at a high risk for abuse, neglect and exploitation. In 2016 alone, 7,205 cases of elder abuse were reported and investigated in the State of Utah.

The Utah “Break the Silence” Elder Abuse Conference will address these issues and what can can be done to better serve the elderly population. The conference will take place at the Snow College Campus in Richfield, Utah on May 15 and is open to advocates, direct service providers, law enforcement, legal/financial professionals, health and social work professionals, as well as the public.

This year’s conference is designed to bring together local resources to build networks and better serve the elderly population in the State of Utah. The conference aims to promote education, discussion and solutions for the issues being faced by elders and caregivers in Utah today.

The keynote speaker at the conference will be San Diego County District Attorney Paul Greenwood, who has prosecuted over 600 cases of elder abuse since 1996.
