A training for adult mental health first aid will take place at the Helper Civic Auditorium on Friday, Aug. 10 and Saturday, Aug. 11.
Hosted by Cacilia Jensen, the local suicide prevention coordinator, this certification is being offered free of charge. On Friday, the training runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The following day, community members are welcome to the training from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“This course is designed as a basic first aid certification course specifically for mental health,” Jensen said. “Just like we get trained in basic CPR and first aid, this course can help us help others that may be going through a mental health crisis.”
While the course is free, space is limited and people must attend both days to receive the certification. To register for the training, email Jensen at cjensen@fourcorners.ws to reserve a spot.
“This is such a great opportunity for our community and I look forward to spreading accurate and helpful knowledge so you can all feel empowered to help others in need,” Jensen said. “Please reach out if you have any questions and again, email me if you want to attend.”
