The Helper First Friday has grown in size and momentum since it was brought back to the community two years ago.
Each month during the event, the city’s cordoned off Main Street offers attendees a multitude of activities that work in conjunction with the monthly theme, along with an array of food choices and musical entertainment.
For the event’s birthday, beginning promptly at 6 p.m. community members were invited to play classic children’s games such as capture the flag, red rover, Simon says and musical chairs. Also hosted during the event was the Helper Idol preliminary, with the final Helper Idol event taking place during the city’s Art’s, Music and Film Festival later in the month.
Alongside the themed fun, visitors can always expect art strolls, food vendors, live music, art vendors and the like. Food features such as Wicked in the Kitchen have easily become a staple during the monthly festivities.
The next First Friday event is slated to take place on September 6.
