The Lady Dinos kicked off their volleyball season on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at home against Altamont. Carbon won the first two sets 25-20 and then obliterated the Lady Longhorns in the third set 25-5 for the victory.
Carbon had 33 kills, 33 digs, 13 blocks and 12 aces in the contest and converted on 45% of their kills. Makenna Blanc had 31 of the teams 33 assists while Kaite Jones led the Dinos in digs with eight. Sophie Noyes had a team high five blocks while Gracie Salas led Carbon with six aces and seven kills. Emma Christensen also had seven kills in the match.
Carbon then traveled on Thursday to take on the Juab Wasps. Carbon won 25-13 in the first set, 25-21 in the second and 25-22 in the third for the second straight sweep.
Christensen and Cora Lamborn each led the team with eight kills as Carbon had 27 in the contest. The Lady Dinos had nine aces, four of which came from Abbie Saccamanno, while Diana Morley led the team with four out of the team’s 12 blocks. Carbon had an impressive 49 digs led by Jones with 10.
The Lady Dinos will head to play in the Dixie Flyers Tournament this weekend to end August. They will play the likes of Grantsville, Pine View, Cedar, Providence Hall and more.
