Last Wednesday evening, Pierce Oil Company owner Ellis Pierce wrote out a check for over $7,000 to the Southeastern Utah Energy Producers Association (SEUEPA). The money was donated from the annual golf tournament, the Coal Country Classic that was held earlier this fall.
SEUEPA Director, Kelly Rasmussen accepted the check to kick start the association’s new scholarship program.
“The proceeds have gone to SEUEPA the last few years,” said Rasmussen, “This year it will directly fund our new SEUEPA scholarship program which will be offered to Carbon and Emery students.”
Many local businesses participated in this year’s golf tournament that was hosted by Rasmussen alongside Carbon County Commissioner Tony Martines in early September. Pierce, along with his wife Cindi, have chaired the Coal Country Classic for many years, marking 2019 as their 25th year.
