Debbie’s Uniques Boutique and Gifts shares a building with Boyd’s Pharmacy and the Southeastern Utah Health Department at 25 West Main Street in Castle Dale. Debbie started selling gifts and apparel to Castle Valley residents 10 years ago by selling gift baskets in local establishments. She later expanded to selling jewelry at fairs and local businesses five years ago and then established a permanent storefront in 2010. Her store expanded from a small kiosk into two shops that specialize in boutique items, gifts, décor and a variety of children’s gifts in the “Kid’s Room”.
Debbie’s mission is to create a “unique” shopping experience. Debbie not only sells a complete line of women’s apparel, but she also sells a complete selection of gifts for all occasions at affordable prices. Debbie also takes special requests directly from her customers. If a customer is search of a special item, Debbie will take the time to research purchasing possibilities to ensure the customer’s satisfaction.
Debbie believes that shopping in her store should be an “escape”. Therefore, she created an area to simply “hangout in” and relax for awhile. Debbie wants everyone that comes into her store to walk out with a smile and an uplifted spirit.
Part of Debbie’s Uniques mission is to serve the community. Debbie buys many of her items from local crafters and donates a portion of her profits to local volunteer organizations. Debbie believes it is important to give back to the community by donating items to raffles and fundraising events.
Debbie realizes that in today’s day and age, it is a challenge to compete against large department stores. Debbie wanted to create a market of unique items that will fulfill each person’s shopping needs. While people can drive many miles and spend a lot of money in search of the perfect gift, Debbie believes that her customers will actually save money by coming to her first. In fact, many of her gifts and items start from $5.00 and she will gift wrap customer’s purchases.
