The Spartans hosted their first match of the season on Wednesday night against the Wildcats.
Richfield won the first two matches, including a 2-0 decision over the talented Byron Christiansen. Jarin Allen pinned Ethan Udy in 2:17. The Wildcats then ripped off three consecutive wins until Bryar Meccariello stopped the bleeding with a 27-second pin. Szion Gibson and Hayes Dalton each had quick, 14 and seven-second respective pins.
Braden Howard joined the party with a 12-second pin of his own. The Spartans were unable to keep their narrow lead and lost the duel, 39-36.
Up next, Emery will participate in the Salem Hills Tournament this weekend.
