The final home meet of the season took place on Tuesday as the Spartans celebrated senior night. Payson, Union and Gunnison Valley joined Emery in the lanes for the last meet.
Sydney Carter began the individual portion with a win in the 200 free while Raleigh Meccariello followed in third. There was a lot of excitement in the 500 free. The nearly seven minute event came down to just 52 hundredths of a second of separation in which Abby Johansen came out on top.
Aubrey Guymon took second in two events, the 50 and 100 free. Then, Cambrie Jensen finished third in the 100 back as did Carley Young in the 100 breast. The Lady Spartans also won the 200 free relay. In the end, it was not enough as Union edged out Emery 349-341.
On the boys’ side, Dax Minchey and Will Stilson were the only two to crack the podium. Minchey took second in the 50 free while Stilson finished in third in the 500 free. The boys also won the 200 free relay but came in third overall. Payson finished in first with 339 points, followed by Union (325) in second and Emery (216) in third.
The Spartans will be back in the pool on Thursday in Richfield.
