Jerry Dean Hamaker, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 14, 2022. Formally of Helper, Utah, recently of Payson, Utah, he is preceded in death by his Father Weston Hamaker, Grandparents Levan and Mary Elizabeth Hamaker, his Grandfather Clifford Smith, and beloved Grandmother Hazel Kanistanaux-Smith. Jerry is survived by his Wife Charlotte Oakden-Hamaker, Sons Jerry Stephen (KennaJean) Hamaker, Richard D. Hamaker, and Shawn D. Hamaker all of Payson, Utah, and 4 Grandchildren, and a Great-Grandchild. Jerry is also survived by his Mother Laura Hamaker of Sacramento, California, Siblings Van (Kathy Sullivan) Hamaker of Price Utah, Ray (Allison Voigt) Hamaker of Sacramento California, and Marleah Russell of Sacramento California.

Jerry worked for the Utah Railway for 32 years in the Maintenance of Way Department, “where he would do something different every day.” He served for four years in his union as President. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings through the years that included Home Teacher, Young Men’s Presidency, Ward Clerk, Elder’s and High Priest Quorum Presidencies, and 34 years in Scouting where the boys loving called him “Brother Hamburger”. He traveled to Hawaii and picked Pineapples in his youth before it became a disciplinary thing. He will be greatly missed but we know he is at peace and pain free.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. A family graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Helper, Utah.
