Though it was not on their scheduled agenda, the Carbon County Commissioners took a moment to begin their meeting on Wednesday evening with a swearing in ceremony.
This ceremony was for Tara Madsen, who the Carbon County Republican Party Central Committee had previously recommended to act as interim County Treasurer. This position became vacant as long-standing treasurer, Kay Colosimo, entered into retirement in the beginning of May.
At the commission meeting that was hosted on May 1, the commissioners had approved the committee’s recommendation, but had not performed the oath of office yet. Madsen has worked in the office for a number of years and came highly suggested.
Commission Chair Larry Jensen performed the swearing in before Madsen was congratulated by the commissioners. Commissioner Jensen joked that Madsen is popular enough that nobody filed to run against her and she is the sole name for the position on the ballots to be filled out in November.
