Attendees at the Castle Valley Chapter of the Utah Statewide Archaeological Society (CVAS) enjoyed a presentation by Dr. Tim Riley on Thursday evening. Riley, the curator of archaeology at the USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum, explained the rock art of the Lower Pecos Canyonlands in Texas and their similarities to Eastern Utah archaeology.
Between January-May and September-December, CVAS meets monthly at the prehistoric museum. Members share a passion for archaeology and gather to share stories, learn about local history and look at ways to preserve ancient findings.
Those interested in joining CVAS may contact chapter president Craig Royce at (435) 888-2234 for more information.
