Community love is being spread even farther with the International Days celebration this year, with Price City Events Coordinator Megan Marshall announcing that there will be Honorary Citizens of the Year recognized for 2024 as well.

“In a heartwarming celebration of resilience and community spirit, two miracle dogs, PeeDee and BluJay, have been named the 2024 International Days Honorary Citizens of the Year,” Marshall shard. “Both dogs captured the hearts of Price City residents, receiving a record number of nominations from the public for their incredible stories of survival and their contributions to the community.”

Both dogs are well-known fighters in the community. BluJay was found up Consumers Road and rescued by Tanner Ori-Tamllos, who has also been named International Days Citizen of the Year. She quickly got the dog the medical attention it needed and then rallied the community together to support BluJay. The dog had been shot between the eyes and was initially given only a 10% chance of survival.

Following surgery and with the dedication of Dr. Harmer and his team, the dog was a survivor. BluJay’s story was one that brought the community even closer together and inspired many.

His story of perseverance and the community’s collective outrage and support highlighted the strong bonds within Price City,” said Marshall.

PeeDee was a two-month old puppy that had been abandoned on the side of a highway in Price, discovered in a box and taken to the Price City Police Department (PCPD). Efforts to find his owner proved unsuccessful and PeeDee his since become an honorary member of the police department. There are plans underway to train him as a Critical Incident Emotional Support Dog.

PeeDee’s presence at the police department has already brought immense joy and comfort to the officers. The police department has expressed their excitement about PeeDee’s future role in spreading love and support throughout the community,” Marshall stated.

Those that wished to donate toward PeeDee’s training, his food and supplies showed up in droves at the PCPD. This is something that Marshall stated further cemented PeeDee’s place in the hearts of the Price City Community.

As the 2024 International Days Honorary Citizens of the Year, BluJay and PeeDee remind us all of the power of kindness and the importance of coming together in times of need,” Marshall concluded. “Price City proudly celebrates these two remarkable dogs and the community that rallied behind them. Their recognition as Honorary Citizens of the Year is a testament to the enduring spirit of Price City and its commitment to supporting and uplifting one another.”
