Tennis Teams Compete at State Tournament

The local tennis squads made their way to Liberty Park for the tennis state tournament. Representing the Dinos in the round of 32 were Emme Stockdale, Emily Dufour, Ireland Keil, Gianna Valdez, Kiley Sasses, Leah Sweeney and Mandy Riggs. For the Spartans, Acelyn Migliori, Tailynn Minchey, Julia Peterson, Izzi Turner, Lily Sorensen and Dorian Price competed for their school.

In First Doubles, Acelyn Migliori and Tailynn Minchey were matched up against the duo from San Juan. The Emery team would get the match win in two sets, advancing them to the round of 16. Emme Stockdale and Emily Dufour would have a tough match against St. Joseph, going three sets. The Carbon team would win in set one, but fall in the following two. The Emery team would face North Sanpete in the round of sixteen, where they fell in two sets.

In Second Doubles, Izzi Turner and Lily Sorenson of Emery, were set to battle the team from Carbon, Giana Valdez and Kiley Sasser. The Lady Spartans would get the win in a hard-fought two sets, winning 6-4 and 6-3 against the Lady Dinos. The Emery duo was set to face the team from Judge Memorial, where the Bulldogs claimed the victory in the round of 16.

In Second Singles, Leah Sweeney of Carbon won in her match against her opponent from Grand County. Sweeney would get the win in two sets, 6-4 and 6-3. As she advanced to the round of 16, she faced a tough opponent from Morgan, falling in two sets. This concluded the season for both teams after a great season.
