The Carbon High Lady Dinos golf team concluded a highly successful season at the state tournament on Thursday at Mountain View Golf Course in northern Utah. Carbon finished in eighth place at the state competition.
Desert Hills once again won the Region 3A state championship with a score of 322 points. Dixie finished in second with 316 and Park City placed third with 310 total points. Carbon finished in eighth place with 282.
Hailey Kirkwood led the Lady Dinos with 79 points and earned a spot on the All-State team. Katie Felice scored 75, Taylor Hammack 65 and Braxton Gibson finished with 63.
“It was a great season,” stated coach Kenji Otani. “State did not work out quite like we had planned, but Hailey made the the All-State team and even though it was a struggle, not one of my girls ever gave up the fight. All I can ask for as a coach is the best you have that day and these girls always gave me 100%. I am very proud of them. Thank you Lady Dinos. Also, I would like to thank the community for all the well wishes, it meant a lot to the myself and the girls.”
Carbon completed the season by claiming the Region 12 title and winning every regular season tournament this year.
